Dark horse 2008 / 1593078722 excellent
About the book: The old saying "You can't unbreak an egg" holds true, especially when that egg unleashes an interstellar scourge, the dreaded Alien. But as dangerous and lethal as this species has proven itself time and time again, some men cannot resist the awful gravity of the creatures' potential when merged with human science... and arrogance... and lust for power. But the cold contracts of these deals with the Devil also bring out the best in humanity, and the awful crucible of struggle against this interstellar cancer brings man closer to his neighbors... and to his God. * Aliens Omnibus Volume 3 collects complete story arcs of Rogue by Ian Edginton and Will Simpson, and Labyrinth by Jim Woodring and Kilian Plunkett, and the acclaimed tale "Salvation," written by Dave Gibbons and illustrated by the incomparable Mike Mignola. * Also collects the stories "Advent/Terminus", "Reaper", and "Horror Show".

It was first published in the United States by DC Comics in 1988 and has remained in print since. Set in the fictional U.S. city of Gotham, Batman: The Killing Joke provides an origin story for the Joker, an established comic book supervillain. It depicts him as a failed stand-up comedian who agrees to aid a gang of criminals and is thwarted by the superhero Batman before being disfigured; in doing so he is driven insane and attains his supervillain persona. Created by Moore as his own take on Joker's source and psychology,[1] the story became famous for its origin of the Joker as a tragic character; a family man and failed comedian who suffered "one bad day" that finally drove him insane. The story's effects on the mainstream Batman continuity also included the shooting and paralysis of Barbara Gordon (a.k.a. Batgirl), an event that laid the groundwork for her to develop the identity of Oracle. Many critics consider the graphic novel to be the definitive Joker story and one of the best Batman stories ever published. The comic won the Eisner Award for 'Best Graphic Album' in 1989 and appeared on The New York Times Best Seller List in May 2009. In 2006, The Killing Joke was reprinted as part of the trade paperback DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore. In 2008, DC Comics reprinted the story in a deluxe hardcover edition, which features new coloring by Bolland, with a more somber, realistic, and subdued palette than the original. Elements of The Killing Joke have inspired or been incorporated into other aspects of Batman media, such as films and video games.

Softcover, ISBN 9781927668023 Publisher: Koyama Press, 2015 Paperback. Very Good.Overview The Blobby Boys are back and they've got acid tongues and acid on their tongues. The salacious and slimy Saturday Morning castoffs haven't lost an iota of edge. In fact, the only thing sharper than the comedy in this book just might be the boys' switchblades. Alex Schubert was born in Mascoutah, Illinois, and is based in Los Angeles, California, where he works in illustration and animation. In 2014, the first collection of Blobby Boys was awarded a Silver Medal in the Long Form and Comic Strip category of The Society of Illustrators first Comic and Cartoon Art Annual.Editorial Reviews From the Publisher “[Schubert] makes you think, he makes you laugh, and he makes you remember the please-don’t-die artistry of comics.” — Taylor Wojick, Amadeus Magazine “[Schubert’s] foul-mouthed, geometric Blobby Boys and their motley crew of co-stars are irresistible.” — Rob Kirby, The Comics Journal “Drawn not a whit more complexly than Ernie Bushmiller’s Nancy, though with more angles than curves, as well as in even, solid colors, they’re pretty amusing, particularly for fans of punk humor.” — Ray Olson, Booklist Online “Alex Schubert's collection of bold, bizarre comics is short, sharp and shocking — not unlike a quick stabbing.” — Jake Austen, Chicago Tribune “The Blobby world could pass off as a sterile, sun-bleached magnet set, but hiding around each sharp corner is something purely rude and wholly entertaining.” — Zack Kotzer, Newsarama "Everything about this comic is appealingly minimal — the sparse panels, block coloring, limited narration and dialogue — and it all works together well. Schubert’s economy makes the gags about surfing robots and cunning art critics that much better because he never forces the words and art to do more than they need to: the deadpan laffs come naturally.” — Ken Parille, The Comics Journal "There’s an almost Axe Cop-like, written-by-a-child feel to the story, only with some adult cynicism mixed in. Schubert’s bold, machine-precise image-making, in which every character and object looks like something that could be a logo for something, is hard to describe, but easy to appreciate." — J. Caleb Mozzocco, Comic Book Resources

Chronicle Books 2011 0811831795 / 9780811831796 softcover/stiff very good minor edge wear
Synopsis About this title Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and illustrator Art Spiegelman joins forces with designer Chip Kidd to pay homage to the comic book hero Plastic Man and his creator, Jack Cole. Plastic Man is more than just a putty face--with his bad-boy past, he literally embodies the comic book form: the exuberant energy, flexibility, boyishness, and subtle hints of sexuality. And as cartoonists "become" each character they create, it can be said that Jack Cole himself resembles Plastic Man. Cole revealed the true magnitude and intensity of his imagination and inner thoughts as Plastic Man slithered from panel to panel--shifting forms and dashing from male to female, or freely morphing from a stiff upright figure to a being as soft as a Dali clock. With a compelling history, a V-necked red rubber leotard, a black-and-yellow striped belt, and very cool tinted goggles, Plastic Man is truly a cult classic, and this art-packed book will delight any fan.

About the book: One of the most eagerly-anticipated graphic novels of the last several years: a lively, character-driven graphic narrative set in a sci-fi/fantasy milieu. While bearing a superficial resemblance to Marvel Comics' The Mighty Thor, a 1960s series by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the story and characters of Young GODS & Friends are sexy, ribald, politically incorrect, and outrageously funny. On the evening prior to a spectacular galaxy-spanning wedding, the reluctant groom, Prince Heros, son of Otan, Ruler of All-Worlds, needs one last adventure before succumbing to life in a marriage of convenience and political intrigue. With his boyhood friend and cousin Strangehands, Heros of All-Worlds sets off across the Abraxus Nebula for a night of innocent adventure, recreating their childhood passion for "dragon chasing." Amusing circumstances dictate that the royally gorgeous yet foul-mouthed spitfire Princess Adastra, older sister of the bride-to-be Celestra of Orgasma, shall be coming along for the dragon ride that, through the mysteries of time and space, lasts considerably longer than just one night. Thus begins this odyssey of three errant gods with entirely mismatched goals and personalities seeking fun across the universe. This volume collects the entirety of the artist's Young GODS stories from the acclaimed Barry Windsor-Smith: STORYTELLER comic book series from the 1990s, including the hotly-anticipated, previously unpublished issues 10 and 11, plus new story material created especially for this edition. BWS: STORYTELLER presented Young GODS, The Paradoxman, and The Freebooters, three fresh, new comics series written and drawn by Windsor-Smith, in a novel format that rotated each monthly series into the lead feature. Widely regarding these entertaining and literate tales as the best comics work of the artist's career, Windsor-Smith's 30-year fan base was crushed when STORYTELLER's schedule came to an abrupt and premature halt with issue 9, in 1997, with BWS claiming lack of support and bad faith on the part of the original publisher. Beginning with Young GODS & Friends in 2003, Fantagraphics is collecting each of BWS:STORYTELLER's titles into separate full-color editions including all of the stories published in issues 1 through 9, and, in the case of Young GODS & Friends, many never-before-published pages, plus background information and behind-the-scenes art.
