"Superbly illustrated:" 19 portraits, many b/w drawings/illustrations. ©1901. Beautiful decorative stamped binding on cover and spine, gilt & black w/photo-portrait. Cover dampstained, some soiling, bumped edges, small tears on corners, joints, head + tail of spine. Bumped head & tail. Holes in back joint, cloth very worn on back cover. Some dampstains and small soiling, browned & tanned edged pages, otherwise fairly clean, no markings. Binding loose, front free endpage barely hanging on. Back joint fragile. Great historical value, illustrations very interesting.
