Would be very good except for front cover detached© 1881. Beautiful! Half-leather cover w/marbled boards, all page edges marbled. Striped headband, raised bands w/gilt on spine. Pastedowns & endpage marbling still shiny! Bookplate: L.V. Nanscawen, Visalia, Calif. Pretext page and Frontispiece detailed engravings. Lots of beautiful extremely detailed engravings and drawings. 960 pages. Some dampstains and light soiling on some pages. Foxing on fore edge, some on top and bottom. Still shiny on fore edge. No markings on any page. Magazine of the day. Extremely interesting! Incl. a story on CA: Mt. Tam., Russian River, Arctic Exploration "Esquimaux," etc. Lots of stories! Poetry. Coniferous trees of Sierra Nevada.
